Writing samples

nypostNew York Post

In the summer of 2016 I interned on the New York Post city desk for 11 weeks. During this time I amassed more than 25 bylines on web and in print, along with many other reporting credits.

I reported on the metro beat, working at places such as New York City Hall, Manhattan Criminal Court, Manhattan Supreme Court, Manhattan Federal Court and NYPD Headquarters.

For seven semesters, I was a staff writer for Lehigh University’s semiweekly student newspaper, The Brown and White. I was the editor in chief during the fall 2016 semester.

Working for The Brown and White was my most valuable experience during my time in college. We operated on a 24-hour news cycle and held ourselves responsible for covering any and all campus happenings. I have honed my reporting, editing and managing skills through the positions I have held.

mq6zgz9rBicycling Magazine

During the spring semester of my junior year of college, I interned for Bicycling magazine in Emmaus, Pennsylvania. Throughout the semester, I committed two full days a week to working at the magazine. I learned a lot about the production process of a magazine, which was different from my previous newsroom experiences.

My duties included fact checking articles, building articles using Drupal, editing photos, compiling data, writing articles and other miscellaneous tasks.

My work can be found on Bicycling’s website.

eofbwbabThe Hour

In the summer of 2015, I interned for The Hour, a daily newspaper based in Norwalk, Connecticut. Over the course of six weeks, I wrote more than 20 articles that were all published in print and on web. Many of my articles were featured on the front page, including the larger Sunday edition of the paper.

I gained a lot of experience in reporting and strengthened my writing skills. I also got a look into how a daily newspaper functions. A search of all of my articles can be found here.

ync7mzbmCottages & Gardens Publications

In the summer of 2014, I worked as a web editorial intern for Cottages & Gardens, a magazine company based in Connecticut. It publishes magazines in Connecticut, New York, the Hamptons and San Francisco covering regional luxury design in areas such as architecture, interiors, landscape and more.

During the eight weeks of my internship, I built and uploaded more than 100 articles to the site. Two skills I expanded upon were Photoshop (resizing, watermarking, etc.) and SEO. Here is an example of a feature article that I took from the magazine and modified for the web and here is a gallery I compiled.
